SHRINKVIVOR CHALLENGE

We're back for Week 3 of the Shrinkvivor Challenge over at Shrinking Jeans! I'm hanging out over at Exile Island after last week's gain.

Official stats:
Joining WW weight on 9/21/11: 210.4
Challenge Starting Weight: 206.2
Change This Week: -3.9
Change for Shrinkvivor Challenge: -2.6
Total Pounds Gone since 9/21/11: -6.8

Activity towards this week's mini-challenge for exercise has been lacking this week. The herniated discs in my back are really aggravating me. My new doctor is waiting on a copy of my MRI from last summer to decide how she wants to proceed with fixing my back. Apparently there's a new laparoscopic procedure that has a quick recovery time that she is hoping I'm a candidate for in lieu of more steroid injections or the dreaded invasive back surgery with weeks, if not months, of recovery. Until then I'm only to walk and only if I'm not in pain. I do still plan to do my 5K and walk the 'hood on the 22nd. For the time being I'm resting.

May Your Way Challenge

Seriously? It's already time to check-in? Okay, here goes...up 1/2 a pound since Monday.

Update on goals:
  • Water - minimum 64 ounces. None today *runs for cover while hanging head in shame*. No excuse really - I just didn't. I PROMISE I will redeem myself on this goal from this point forward.
  • Eat better & track my food. I've been more cautious about what I'm eating and I'm writing everything down (including the 2 mini peanut butter cups I ate this afternoon). It is very eye opening and it's no wonder I've not really been making progress. I am too embarrassed to share my log so far but suffice it to say it ain't pretty.
  • Work on strengthening my back. Pilates after I hit publish on this post and link up!
Not perfect but making slow progress. That's a step in the right direction and I'll take it.

Up 1.5. You know, I REALLY don't like writing these posts when I have to report a gain. It sucks. Lots. But it's MY FAULT. Grrrr. I've given myself a pep talk and I promise not to be bitter because really there's no reason to be bitter when you know you've had one too many pieces of cheesecake.

Down 0.8 this week which is good because I didn't really re-focus until this past weekend. I'm worried about the next weigh-in only because I'm traveling. And eating right while traveling is so flippin hard. But the upside is I get to finally meet IRL - Kirsten, Brooke and Christie!!!! YAY!!!!! I'll be chillin with Brooke's hubby on Sunday cheering them on at the Disney Marathon. So proud of those girls and cannot wait to hug them!

{BIG SIGH} What. A. Week. As if 2010 wasn't grumpy enough with me it definitely went out with a bang. I did let the last few weeks derail me more than I should but I am better now. My scale has been creeping upwards but no more! I am in for the Power of One challenge over at the Sisterhood and it's all about me and my needs. I'm going to be selfish. Completely, totally selfish.

Power of One Challenge

My stats for the new challenge (as of Wednesday the 29th, anyway):
Challenge Starting Weight: 198.1
Change This Week: +2.3 (that's a lot of cookies and stress eating, yo)
Total Pounds Gone since 9-8-2010: 5.5

My healthy living goals for this challenge:
  • To continue working towards not allowing circumstances to derail me. I'm getting better, I think, but it's definitely a work in progress.
  • Continue to attend Weight Watchers meetings weekly (I skipped the last few weeks). I like the meetings not so much for accountability (that's what I have all you wonderful peeps for) but for the information, sharing of tips and ideas, etc.
  • Water. I used to be so good at this. It definitely needs to become a priority again.
  • Walking. I'm going to start walking again. I won't even attempt running with the state my back is in; however, I will either walk outside when it's nice, pop in a Leslie Sansone walking DVD or hit the treadmill. I must. (Although I will be kinda sad when the Daily Mile # over on the right doesn't read 69 miles anymore...that was for Bari and Bekki *grin*).

And there it is. I'm a little late to the game this week seeing as it's almost 10 PM on Saturday night but I will fill up my water bottle, put it in the fridge and get my booty in gear.

G'night all!

Holiday Hoedown Challenge

Challenge Starting Weight: 199.6
Change This Week: +0.6
Change for Holiday Hoedown Challenge: -3.8
Total Pounds Gone since 9-8-2010: 7.8

Err, ummm, I didn't get my 10# button. But I know why (see yesterday's confession and I'm late for the monthly thing - do not go there, friends). I am not stressing. I'm on track. And I'm looking forward to a loss next week.

Weekly Update on Goals:
  • Track my food and do my absolute best to stay within my Points target on Weight Watchers. - YES! Until Sunday. Sunday and Monday I did not count and ate crap.
  • Attend my Weight Watchers meetings consistently. - I did not go this week (weighed in at home).
  • Drink. More Water. - I have no idea why I'm having issues with this. Definitely not drinking enough. I did chug 32 ounces yesterday and that's the most I've had in any one day all week. Bad Roo!
Okay, I gotta make this quick. Off to pick up the boy from his last day of school until 2011 and my reminder is going off on my phone now. Later!

Holiday Hoedown Challenge

Challenge Starting Weight: 199.6
Change This Week: -2.0
Change for Holiday Hoedown Challenge: -4.4
Total Pounds Gone since 9-8-2010: 8.4

I am SO CLOSE to my 10 pound button that I am going to do my best to grab it next week - which means I need to lose 1.6 this coming week. I *really* want to accomplish that before Christmas. That would be awesome!

Weekly Update on Goals:
  • Track my food and do my absolute best to stay within my Points target on Weight Watchers. - YES! I even consumed all but 2 of my 49 weekly points allowance.
  • Attend my Weight Watchers meetings consistently. - Yes! Went to Tuesday morning meeting.
  • Drink. More Water. - Let's just say this is still a work in progress. I'm so addicted to Diet Coke it's not funny. I PROMISE to work on this daily. And if anyone wants to text me or @ me on Twitter reminding me to drink my water, I'll gladly accept it!
Guys, this feels so good. I'm so glad I'm finally taking care of me again!

Holiday Hoedown Challenge

It's finally happened. I've finally stopped letting things that are out of my control thwart my weight-loss efforts. I don't know exactly what happened but a switch flipped and I'm done. Done letting my husband's work schedule dictate my routine. Done letting my mind tell me I'm not doing it right or good enough. Done with the negative thoughts about how long this will take (forever - because we all know it never stops - we may get to goal weight but we can't stop being healthy because we lost the weight). Done beating myself up for one bad choice which ultimately turns into several bad choices. I'm done putting everyone else first and not worrying about me.

And with that, I give you my weekly weigh-in deets:

Challenge Starting Weight: 199.6
Change This Week: -1.7
Change for Holiday Hoedown Challenge: -2.4
Total Pounds Gone since 9-8-2010: 6.4

How am I doing with my goals from last week? Pretty darn good, I think. Except for the water. Need to work on that this week!
  • Track my food and do my absolute best to stay within my Points target on Weight Watchers. - YES & YES - No cheating. Not once!
  • Attend my Weight Watchers meetings consistently. - Yes! Went to Tuesday morning meeting.
  • Drink. More Water. - Meh, notsomuch. Will do better this week!

Now, off to see how my fellow Shrinkers did this week!

Holiday Hoedown Challenge

Depression and anxiety are ugly creatures. And they both tend to leave me paralyzed, existing and just going through the motions. The nightmares and lack of focus, I'm sure, are a result of my doctor switching my medicines. I went from being very sad to not caring and quite frankly, a bitch. (If I was bitchy to you over the last few weeks please, please forgive me. I am truly sorry.) I'm working on my -ahem- attitude, but suffice it to say it's been difficult.

I did weigh in the last 2 weeks - down .4 last week and .3 this week. Not fabulous, I know, but no gain over Thanksgiving makes me feel better.

Know what else makes me feel better? The new Weight Watchers plan! Today was my first day following it by the book and I had no headaches, was NOT hungry and just felt good. Recently (over the last year when I've attempted to follow Weight Watchers) I was so hungry. All. The. Time. What a relief to eat and not feel hungry and know that I stayed on track.

I have not logged any minutes this week because the back/hip/leg pain is back. Gah. There are days I wonder if it will ever end, yo. But I am not going to let it derail me. I just need to find something that works fitness wise and run, or ummm, walk slowly with it.

As far as the non-fitness challenge this week, the three things I'm going to do this month to help me stay on track is:
  • Track my food and do my absolute best to stay within my Points target on Weight Watchers.
  • Attend my Weight Watchers meetings consistently.
  • Drink. More Water. It's kinda like the Chick-fil-A cow with his Eat. More. Chicken. sign. You know which one I'm talking about, right? This one.

I realize these are so simple but you'd be amazed how hard this is for me some days. Especially when I'm dragging my 3 year old to a meeting with me.

Anyway, what I'm NOT going to do is quit or give up regardless of my mood, attitude and/or disc problems.

Here's to a good report for week 3!

*waving* Hi all! This is gonna be a quick FYI kind of post as I'm sitting on a conference call for work and realized I hadn't posted my weigh-in from this morning. I have so much going on in this little ole head of mine that I want need to share but it will have to weight. (Get it? Weight/wait? Totally cracking myself up here...)

Drumroll, please...

Shrinkvivor Challenge at the Sisterhood!

Wow. I can't believe the Shrinkvivor Challenge is over! Of course, I disqualified myself last week by missing the check-in (gah!) but that doesn't mean I stop working at it, right? Right. So without further ado, here are my numbers:

Weight at last check-in: 199.0
Challenge Starting Weight: 202.1
Change This Week: -1.5
Change for Shrinkvivor Challenge: -3.6
Total Pounds Gone since 9/8/2010: 5.1

Ummm, do you see what I see?

I'm Down w/the Sisterhood

Yes, 5# button, baby! And a 3.6 loss for the challenge...not nearly as great as I had hoped but dealing with a sick/hospitalized kid, being sick myself and hurting my back again, I am very happy with the overall loss. I keep telling myself that slow and steady wins the race but geez sometimes it feels insanely slow.

Oh and have you voted for the Top Shrinkvivor? There are 7 and seriously I'm not sure how ANYONE is supposed to choose just one winner...the entries are all phenomenal. Go vote, m'kay?

Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans

Up .3 for the week. Up 2.3 for the challenge. Apparently I forgot to mention to my body we're supposed to be going in the opposite direction. I could get all crazy negative and beat myself up but I won't. I refuse to do it.

My team on the other hand? They ALL lost pounds - 22.6 to be exact. I'm VERY proud of them! Go Exotic Gangstas!

Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans

Let's see, although I've reported in weekly with my team, my last check-in here was on August 4th. Whoops! Since then I have gained 1.2 pounds. This includes vacation time and a crap load of stress so I'm not too concerned. And this is life. I need to roll with the punches, figure out a plan and do it to the best of my ability.

As I mentioned in my last post I have problems with an all-or-nothing attitude. I need to work on this and am trying. Step 1 in my multi-phase stop with the all-or-nothing attitude plan is to take baby steps. My 1 and only baby step this week is to consume 80-100 ounces of water daily. I have 2 friends that are checking in with me to make sure I've done it (thanks Kristen and Beki!) Today I was successful with 83 ounces. I'm still trying to count my calories and get exercise in but it's not going to consume me. For this week, water will consume me and water only. And already, just knowing that I'm only *focusing* on this one thing makes me feel so much better.

On another note, my favorite post this week is Reality Check by April. It is a must-read for anyone on the weight-loss journey. Please. Go read it. And have a fabulous week!

xoxo

Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans

Today is the first weigh-in for the Down & Dirty Challenge over at the Sisterhood. I am already loving this challenge because not only do I think the name totally rocks, BUT we've been paired up in teams! I am on Team E, also known as Exotic Gangstas, with 5 other ridiculously awesome peeps. We had our official first weigh-in on Sunday and today we are down 6.8 pounds as a team. I am so proud of us! Myself, I'm down 0.5 pound but am good with that.

Things are clicking and I'm trying to get into a groove, so to speak. I started the C25K last night and it was so awesome to be back in the exercise game. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? After 3 months I was totally dreading starting again but I felt that rush of doing something good for me and now I'm looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow.

This is a super quick post and I apologize for that but I have little people to get to bed and to say I'm exhausted is an understatement.

Go visit the check-in post for today, scroll through the comments and give these gals lots of encouragement! They're working hard for it!
